A Helpful Description of Beds
Bed Sizes can be confusing, here are some of the bed sizes we offer. All of our beds are made for adults.
We have included some examples for each bed option, but please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will sort something out to perfectly accommodate your home.
Loft Bed
A loft bed is one elevated bed with space underneath for a study area, playing space, or just for storage.
A loft bed can be custom made to accommodate all mattress sizes and is a great way to utilize space in a room. We design matching furniture which can be incorporated underneath, such as a desk with soft closing drawers, a shelving unit, or other storage options like a closet.
We recommend loft beds to a variety of people, to allow for extra space in your room. All of our beds are designed for adults some use cases such as needing a space saving office, such as in a studio apartment. Another great option is to have a walk in closet underneath the Loft Bed.
Bunk Bed
A bunk bed is made up of two or more beds which usually stack above one another. For example twin bunk beds or triple bunk beds. Our bunk beds can be made to accommodate all mattress sizes.
We recommend bunk beds to large families that live in a small home, for example an apartment in New York. We have worked with many families in this situation creating individualized solutions. We work to give these families the most comfort possible.
Bunk beds are also great for sleepovers or just to have the comfort of beds that take up little space. Through our many combinations we create the possibility to sleep up to 6 people. These are great for guest rooms, or in a vacation home.
Trundle Bed
A trundle bed is a bed on wheels which is usually pushed under a normal bed or bunk bed. Trundles are usually used when you need an extra bed and can then easily be stored away neatly under your bed when not in use.
Trundles are great for most people as it provides an easy guest bed. Our trundles can be used on a daily basis as well, as it is nice to be able to tuck away the bed to allow for more floor space during the day.
A Helpful Description of Mattress sizes
Mattresses actually come in all shapes and sizes, from standard store bought models to custom made-to-measure mattresses. At Loft and Bunk we design and custom make our beds to fit almost any mattress size or thickness, but generally, we make our furniture for standard size mattresses.
All of our beds are built with bed slats or bed slat panels. We make these individually depending on the size and thickness of your mattress.
